Ilaria Tucci, Italy
Ilaria Tucci (Italy, 1980) is a professional actress graduated at the Italian National Drama Academy “Silvio D’Amico” (BA, 2002) and graduated with honors from the University of Pisa in the Sciences for Peace (MA, 2013), with a thesis which combines Applied Theatre, Conflict Transformation and Peacebuilding Processes. In fact, since 2006, Ilaria has been studying and experimenting the applications of theatre as a tool of dialogue among people, participation, peacebuilding and empowerment. On behalf of d’altrocanto– atheatre company that she founded and directed during the time it functioned (2003-2012) – Ilariainvented and produced many theatre projects, combining the citizenship participation with arts, and promoting the idea that theatre could be a powerful means of change and individual/collective awareness.During last years – thanks to the fruitful and inspiring collaboration with Chiara Murru (Alguer, Sardinia) she started to include in her artistic research also the role of the bodies in the Urban Landscape.
“New Deal for Europe – Politics in Performance”
The workshop aims to be an artistic reflection on the contemporary thorny debate among skeptics and supporters of Europe, introducing few topics related to it: Youth Mobility, Culture and Migration. Using different suggestions from the European literature (Mazzini, Albert Camus, José Ortega y Gasset…) we will use different tools and methodologies to discover together how to translate and communicate artistically these such complex and urgent issues. Since I believe that actors are artists and artisans of the realm of complexity, the tools and methodologies used will be different, according with situation and characteristics of participants: physical improvisation, collective discussions, forum theatre, dance, and writing.
There will be a preliminary work on texts and/or images (from web, newspaper, own material), then we will discuss collectively about the core of the message that we want share, and mostly through physical improvisations we will find our collective way to “will and invoke” a New Deal for Europe.
If it will be possible, we will spend last part of the workshop performing in the streets and squares of our neighbourhood. Thus, we will discover how the physical theatre could be not only a tool of participation, but also an instrument to re-imagine and re-design the urban system, at least from a visual and imaginative perspective.
