Eileen Jackson. France
Eileen is currently based in Paris. As a dramaturge/director, her recent creations include Les Belles by Michel Tremblay, Ichi-go Ichi-e (after Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest) and Nude with Violin by Noël Coward. She has also written, led creations and worked as movement coach. She is currently working on a new production to be performed in June 2013. In 2008, she founded a physical theatre training programme. The core of the training focuses on movement, voice, and breathing to approach and devise texts. She attended the Ecoles Jacques Lecoq and Théâtre Ecole du Passage and has trained under Monika Pagneux, Ariane Mnouchkine, Magenia Mime and the Roy Hart. In 2012, she participated in the making of the film and book, Inside/Outside about the life and work of Monika Pagneux.
Sound, Impro, Text - Exploring the Physicality of Language
The workshop is organized into three areas:
1) Breathing and rhythm exercises to explore the sounds and texture of the words.
2) Leading language into play through movement. Exploring spatial relationships between body and voice.
3) Improvising with creative material generated to approach the text.
A selection of texts in English will be provided. Participants are welcome to bring excerpts of other texts.
Please wear comfortable clothes. Participants are invited to work barefoot or to wear light gym shoes. Bring water.
